There will never be a time you don’t need faith for healing either for yourself…

If you wait to get faith when you need it, you will be at a disadvantage.

God wants us to walk in Divine health. It is made available by faith in the sacrifice of Jesus at Calvary.

The same faith you have to receive forgiveness is the same faith that will heal you from sickness and disease.

This past year, with so much talk about sickness everywhere, we need to counteract that with the truth of God’s word about our health!

1. Deal with fear.

Faith cancels fear. Or, fear cancels faith.

2. To what information sources do you give the most attention?

Hearing, thinking, believing, speaking, acting.

Romans 10:17 – So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Change the atmosphere of your life.

3. Take Responsibility for your health in Christ.

Healing will not come without your participation!

Faith begins where the will of God is known.

Faith does not rest in God’s ability alone. Faith begins where the will of God is known.

Part 4 – The Healing Covenant

Hebrews 8:6 (NKJV)

But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

Exodus 15:26 (NKJV)

And said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you.”

How do we know that the Healing Covenant still applies to us today? Because of God’s covenant names…

Today – God’s seven covenant names.

All of these names begin with Jehovah

Jehovah

(Easton’s Bible Dictionary)

The unchanging, eternal, self-existent God,” the “I am that I am,” a convenant-keeping God.

This name, the Tetragrammaton of the Greeks, was held by the later Jews to be so sacred that it was never pronounced except by the high priest on the great Day of Atonement, when he entered into the most holy place.

Jehovah means the self-existent One Who reveals Himself. In His Jehovah names, God reveals His covenant care for His own.

He is the same, yesterday, today, forever…

I am the Lord, I change not…

1. Jehovah Jireh – The Lord will provide

Genesis 22:13-14 (NKJV)

Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”

Jehovah Jireh means the Lord our provider (Genesis 22:14). God provided the lamb of sacrifice in the place of Abraham’s son Isaac as Abraham walked up the mountain in obedience to God’s request of Abraham to give Him his only son. God provides what He requests from us. He has promised to take great care of us as we trust and obey Him.

Philippians 4:19-20 (NKJV)

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (20) Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:33 (NLT)

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

 

2. Jehovah Nissi – The Lord our Banner, Victor, or Captain

 

Exodus 17:8-14 (NKJV)

Now Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim. 9 And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.” 10 So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. 14 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.”

Exodus 17:15 (NKJV)

And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner;

Jehovah Nissi (Genesis 17:15) means the Lord our banner and refers to the Father as our strength and victory in tough circumstances. He is the One who provides the promised victory in every test and difficult battle that life brings our way.

In the New Testament we have the promise:

Romans 8:37 – NKJV

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Romans 8:31-32 (NLT)

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

3. Jehovah Shalom – The Lord our Peace

Jehovah Shalom means the Lord our Peace.

Judges 6:22-23 (NLT)

When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the LORD, he cried out, “Oh, Sovereign LORD, I’m doomed! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!” 23 “It is all right,” the LORD replied. “Do not be afraid. You will not die.”

There was a belief in Israel that if you saw God (or Gideon thought even an angel), you would die.

Judges 6:24 (NKJV)

So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord, and called it The-Lord-Is-Peace. To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

Happiness comes from happenings, our surrounding circumstances. But peace comes from within. Your world can be falling apart around you yet the peace of God can buoy you up and help you in the crisis moment.

Peace with God is available through the forgiveness that Jesus offers by His blood.

Romans 5:1 reveals: Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:14 (NKJV)

For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,

The peace of God is ours as we walk in obedience and honor the precious Holy Spirit in our lives.

Colossians 3:15 (NKJV)

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

4. Jehovah Raah – The Lord our Shepherd

Psalms 23 (NLT)

The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. 2 He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. 3 He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths,bringing honor to His name. 4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley,

I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and Your staff protect and comfort me. 5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. 6 Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.

Jehovah Raah means the Lord our Shepherd (Psalm 23:1). God is is absolutely committed to our care.

A shepherd takes care of his sheep day and night. He assumes their total care including food, shelter, safety, guidance and personal oversight. That is how our God treats us!

We are in His care as sheep are watched by the careful eye of a wise shepherd. Jesus says to us:

John 10:11 – NKJV

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

John 10:14 (NLT)

I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me,

5. Jehovah Tsidkenu – The Lord our Righteousness

Jeremiah 23:3-5 (NLT)

But I will gather together the remnant of my flock from the countries where I have driven them. I will bring them back to their own sheepfold, and they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 Then I will appoint responsible shepherds who will care for them, and they will never be afraid again. Not a single one will be lost or missing. I, the LORD, have spoken!

5 “For the time is coming,”says the LORD, “when I will raise up a righteous descendant from King David’s line. He will be a King who rules with wisdom. He will do what is just and right throughout the land.

Jeremiah 23:6 (NKJV)

In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Jehovah Tsidkenu (Jeremiah 23:5-6) refers to the Father as the Lord our righteousness.

When you feel guilty and condemned because of present failure or by remembrance of your past, keep in mind that the Father has given you the same standing before Him that His Son Jesus has!

Romans 8:1 (NLT)

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

1 John 1:9 (NLT)

But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Our sins have not just been covered, but they have been completely wiped out. The legal term is expunged! Every record of our wrongdoing in the library of heaven has been destroyed. So when you miss it, confess your sin. He is faithful and just. You are righteous in His sight.

But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God — and righteousness and sanctification and redemption

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

6. Jehovah Shammah – The Lord is Present

Ezekiel 48 describes the land that the tribes of Israel will inhabit in the restored earth after Jesus returns. God will dwell once again with all of us!

Ezekiel 48:35 (NKJV)

All the way around shall be eighteen thousand cubits; and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE.

This is the presence of God that floods our lives when the Holy Spirit takes up residence within us. We are never alone.

When loneliness rises up in you, remind yourself that the Lord is present. He has promised that He will never leave or forsake His own.

He is not a feeling. He is a Spirit. He’s still around when you feel nothing. Hebrews 13:5-6 tells us: I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.

1 John 4:4 (NLT)

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.

7. Jehovah Rapha – The Lord your Physician

Exodus 15:26 (NLT)

He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the LORD who heals you.”

Jehovah Rapha (Exodus 15:26) means the Lord our healer or the Lord who heals.

When you are attacked by sickness or disease, reach up in faith to your covenant God and appropriate faith for Him to heal you completely. He is faithful that promised.

Believe that you receive healing for your body the moment symptoms appear. He forgive all of our sins, and heals all of our diseases (Psalm 103:3).

1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV)

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

He remains constant in all His relationships with us as revealed by His names.

If He is still our Provider, our Banner, our Peace , our Shepherd, our Righteousness, our Ever Present One, then He is still our Great Physician, our Healer!

3 Examples of God Honoring His Healing Covenant with His Old Covenant People: They were well as long as they kept the covenant…

1. Miriam grieved the Lord by criticizing her brothers leadership – stricken with leprosy – Healed when Moses prayed.

Numbers 12:1-15 (NLT)

While they were at Hazeroth, Miriam and Aaron criticized Moses because he had married a Cushite woman.2 They said, “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Hasn’t he spoken through us, too?” But the Lord heard them.3 (Now Moses was very humble—more humble than any other person on earth.)4 So immediately the Lord called to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam and said, “Go out to the Tabernacle, all three of you!” So the three of them went to the Tabernacle.5 Then the Lord descended in the pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tabernacle. “Aaron and Miriam!” he called, and they stepped forward.6 And the Lord said to them, “Now listen to what I say: “If there were prophets among you, I, the Lord, would reveal myself in visions. I would speak to them in dreams.7 But not with my servant Moses. Of all my house, he is the one I trust.8 I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles! He sees the Lord as he is. So why were you not afraid to criticize my servant Moses?”9 The Lord was very angry with them, and he departed.10 As the cloud moved from above the Tabernacle, there stood Miriam, her skin as white as snow from leprosy. When Aaron saw what had happened to her,11 he cried out to Moses, “Oh, my master! Please don’t punish us for this sin we have so foolishly committed.12 Don’t let her be like a stillborn baby, already decayed at birth.”13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, “O God, I beg you, please heal her!”14 But the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had done nothing more than spit in her face, wouldn’t she be defiled for seven days? So keep her outside the camp for seven days, and after that she may be accepted back.”15 So Miriam was kept outside the camp for seven days, and the people waited until she was brought back before they traveled again.

2. Israelites lash out in anger at Moses leadership. congregation of Israelites sinned – a plague killed many when they repented and met the covenant conditions, they were healed.

Numbers 16:41-50 (NLT)

But the very next morning the whole community of Israel began muttering again against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You have killed the Lord’s people!”(42) As the community gathered to protest against Moses and Aaron, they turned toward the Tabernacle and saw that the cloud had covered it, and the glorious presence of the Lord appeared. (43) Moses and Aaron came and stood in front of the Tabernacle, (44) and the Lord said to Moses, (45) “Get away from all these people so that I can instantly destroy them!” But Moses and Aaron fell face down on the ground. (46) And Moses said to Aaron, “Quick, take an incense burner and place burning coals on it from the altar. Lay incense on it, and carry it out among the people to purify them and make them right with the Lord. The Lord’s anger is blazing against them—the plague has already begun.” (47) Aaron did as Moses told him and ran out among the people. The plague had already begun to strike down the people, but Aaron burned the incense and purified the people. (48) He stood between the dead and the living, and the plague stopped.(49) But 14,700 people died in that plague, in addition to those who had died in the affair involving Korah. (50) Then because the plague had stopped, Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance of the Tabernacle.

3. Israelites spoke against God & Moses – repent & were healed when they gazed at the brazen serpent (a type of Christ). See John 3:14

Numbers 21:4-9 (NLT)

Then the people of Israel set out from Mount Hor, taking the road to the Red Sea to go around the land of Edom. But the people grew impatient with the long journey, (5) and they began to speak against God and Moses. “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?” they complained. “There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!” (6) So the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died. (7) Then the people came to Moses and cried out, “We have sinned by speaking against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take away the snakes.” So Moses prayed for the people. (8) Then the Lord told him, “Make a replica of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are bitten will live if they simply look at it!”(9) So Moses made a snake out of bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!

Action Points:

Do you see God as your:

1. Jehovah Jireh – The Lord will provide? Do you expect Him to provide for you?

2. Jehovah Nissi – The Lord our Banner, Victor, or Captain? Is He your strength in tough places?

3. Jehovah Shalom – The Lord our Peace? When things are crazy aroundf you, do you have God’s peace within?

4. Jehovah Raah – The Lord our Shepherd? Do you trust God to take care of all your needs?

5. Jehovah Tsidkenu – The Lord our Righteousness? When you fail, do you believe that God cleanses your sin when you confess it?

6. Jehovah Shammah – The Lord is Present? DO you believe thst God is with you at all times?

7. Jehovah Rapha – The Lord your Physician? When sickness attacks, do you reach out and trust God as your healer?
