Our God is the God who is More than Enough

Wednesday, August 24 2022

Tonight, I am going to encourage you to trust God and have confidence in Him in every life situation you are in. When you realize who our God is – the Almighty – El Shaddai – the God who is more than enough and our position in Christ Jesus and what God has done through Him, you will have PEACE knowing that you are blessed and you are protected – a place of safety

Genesis 17:1-2 (NLT)

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. 2 I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.”

The Hebrew word for God Almighty is El Shaddai – the God who is more than enough – more than sufficient. It means that He has the power to complete promises of blessings and prosperity.

Everything God does is over the top, more than enough, a surplus, super-abundant, overflowing, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over!

This is WHO HE IS – EL-Shaddai – the God who is more than Enough

Few other Scriptures that mention God Almighty – El Shaddai – the God who is more than Enough.

Genesis 28:3 (NIV) (Isaac speaking to Jacob

May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become a community of peoples.

Genesis 48:3 (NIV)

Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and there he blessed me 4 and said to me, ‘I am going to make you fruitful and increase your numbers. I will make you a community of peoples, and I will give this land as an everlasting possession to your descendants after you.’”

Genesis 49:25 (NLT)

May the God of your father help you; may the Almighty bless you with the blessings of the heavens above, and blessings of the watery depths below, and blessings of the breasts and womb.

Psalms 91:1-8 (NLT)

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust Him.

3 For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.

4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.

6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.

7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.

8 Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.

Notice that in all these scriptures, the nature of our God, Almighty God – El Shaddai, the God who is more than enough, is always to bless, to give increase, to make you fruitful, to give you rest, to protect you from deadly disease etc. So do not be afraid of the bad circumstances around you. Regardless of how bad your situation is, these evils will not touch you.

V2 says – He alone is my refuge, my place of SAFETY!

You don’t see God, but you’ve got to trust Him.

That’s when faith comes in. He is my place of safety and He is my God and I trust Him!

The Lord is Our Hope and Our Trust

Jeremiah 17: 7-8 (NKJV)

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.

8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Jeremiah 17: 7-8 (NLT)

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.

8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

This is the access that I am talking about! When our God is the God who is More Than Enough and we have access to ALL that He has – Life Is Good! No Stress! We have Peace! No worries!

This is the truth of who we are in the family of God. Whatever you need – God is More than Enough!

We may live in this fallen world with all the problems surrounding us, but God’s blessings are available for us! Whether it is physical needs, emotional needs, financial needs, relational needs. He is EL-Shaddai the God is more than enough.

We have got to believe Him – trust Him and put our confidence in Him!

Our Heavenly Father, the God Almighty – the God who is More Than Enough, is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He lets us enjoy all that He has for us. We are blessed in Him! We have access to all His blessings. We are blessed when we put our trust in Him.

Yes! Even when the world around us is falling apart. Yes! Even when our circumstances seem difficult. Yes! Even when the challenges come – our roots are planted deep in the water. No fear here! No bothered or worried by the circumstances because we have access to the God who is more than enough. Our leaves will stay green and they will never stop producing fruit.

Our God is EL-SHADDAI – the God who is more than enough!

Jeremiah 31:10-14 (NLT)

“Listen to this message from the Lord, you nations of the world; proclaim it in distant coastlands: The Lord, who scattered his people, will gather them and watch over them as a shepherd does his flock.

11 For the Lord has redeemed Israel from those too strong for them.

12 They will come home and sing songs of joy on the heights of Jerusalem. They will be radiant because of the Lord’s good gifts the abundant crops of grain, new wine, and olive oil, and the healthy flocks and herds. Their life will be like a watered garden, and all their sorrows will be gone.

13 The young women will dance for joy, and the men—old and young—will join in the celebration. I will turn their mourning into joy. I will comfort them and exchange their sorrow for rejoicing.

14 The priests will enjoy abundance, and my people will feast on my good gifts. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

In another translation (NKJV) V14 says that the Lord will satiatefill to the full – the soul of the priests with abundance and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness says the Lord.

You see our God is a good God! He is a good Father!

When you got saved and received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you entered into the family of God with all His blessings and benefits as the children of God.

Now, think about it – we got the better end of the deal. Yes! We surrender ourselves to Him. We belong to Him. And, what we have is His and what He has is ours.

Have you ever denied your children access to the food in your house? What you have in the refrigerator, your children have access to it, right?! Think about your older/college children or your adult children when they come home to visit, they are welcome to your home at any time and have access to all your food. They do not need to get permission to go to the kitchen and have something to eat. They just open the refrigerator….

Our Heavenly Father, the God who is More Than Enough, is the same way. He lets us enjoy all that He has for us. We are blessed in Him! We have access to all His blessings. We are blessed when we put our trust in Him and our confidence in Him.

Know Our Position – we are a royal priesthood.

1 Peter 2:9-10 (ERV)

But you are his chosen people, the King’s priests. You are a holy nation, people who belong to God. He chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He brought you out of the darkness of sin into his wonderful light. 10 In the past you were not a special people, but now you are God’s people. Once you had not received mercy, but now God has given you his mercy.

1 Peter 2: 9-10 (NKJV)

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

We need to know who we are in Christ! A lot of people don’t know what they have in Jesus.

I continue to learn and grow by reading God’s Word to know who I am in Christ.

Tell a story about a person (in Indonesia) walking besides the road with a load of wood on his back. A truck came by and offered him a ride. He hopped on the back of the truck and got a ride to where he was going but he still had his load on his back the whole time he was getting the ride. He never takes them off his back.

Well, you think it’s weird! But there are a lot of people who don’t realize that we have access to what God has. That person is ignorant, oblivious or uninformed. We are a chosen generation, we are a royal priesthood and we are in position to receive God’s promises and blessing. God will satisfy the soul of the priest to the full.

Don’t be that guy who is uninformed about the reality of who he is as the child of God!

When I look around some of my challenges – as the director of Victory Academy, I am reminded that my God is bigger than any of these challenges. I am consciously aligning myself with who I am in Christ – I have the mind of Christ, I have access to God through Jesus is more than enough!

Jeremiah 32:17 (NKJV)

Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard or too difficult for You.

Proverbs 10:22 (ESV)

The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

Nothing, I mean nothing is too hard or too difficult for Him! The blessing of the Lord makes us rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.

Psalm 84:11 (TPT)

For the Lord God is brighter than the brilliance of a sunrise! Wrapping himself around me like a shield,

He is so generous with his gifts of grace and glory. Those who walk along His paths with integrity

will never lack one thing they need, for He provides it all!

Of course He is a generous God especially to His children. When your Heavenly Father is the Almighty God – EL-SHADDAI – the God who is more than enough, you are a Christian who has accepted Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, purified by the blood of Christ and devoted your life to Him alone and to Christ – you are qualified (in the right position) to receive all what He has – all what Heaven has to offer is yours.

No wonder we will never lack any good thing!

All because of what Jesus has done

When you got saved and received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you entered into the family of God with all His blessings and benefits as the children of God.

We are afforded all His blessings not because of what we’ve done but because of what JESUS has done! When He died on the cross, He took the hit for us so we can be saved from all our sins – eternal life is ours, healing is ours, wholeness is ours, deliverance is ours.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (Jesus Christ).

2 Corinthians 5:21 (TPT)

For God made the only one who did not know sin to become sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God through our union with Him – Jesus Christ

We become the righteousness of God does not mean we are covered or blanketed with the righteousness of God. We ARE righteous in Christ Jesus. So, as far as God is concerned, as if we never sinned! I am thrilled every time I read this passage of scripture.

You and I are accepted in the beloved! We have access to Heaven – what He has we have. Positionally, we, through Christ Jesus, are righteous. I did not say that, the Bible does.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (ESV)

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (TPT)

For you have experienced the extravagant grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he was infinitely rich, he impoverished himself for our sake, so that by his poverty, we become rich beyond measure.

Isaiah 53:4-5 (NKJV)

Surely He has borne our griefs (sickness And carried our sorrows (pain physically and pain mentally); Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

  • Through Jesus Christ, who though He was rich became poor, so we can become rich beyond measure.
  • We also can say that He knew no sickness, carried our sickness, so by His stripes we are healed!

That’s the God who is more than enough – more than sufficient. He gave everything so we have access to everything that Heaven has to offer.

All you need to do to receive Him as your Lord and Savior is to tell Him – ‘God I need you. I am not smart enough, I am not wise enough, I am not strong enough to do life on my own. I need you in my life!’

I need you Lord, I need your anointing in my life, in my home, in my job, in my school, in my marriage, in every area of my life. Trust Him and Have Confidence in Him. You are planted by the waters.

Tell the story when God blessed Joni and I with a mortgage payment.

Food dropped at our front door when we lived in Colorado. So much food that we bless our neighbors with them.

Deuteronomy 28:1-14 (NLT)

“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. 2 You will experience all these blessings (all these blessings will overtake you) if you obey the Lord your God:

3 Your towns and your fields will be blessed.

4 Your children and your crops will be blessed. The offspring of your herds and flocks will be

blessed.

5 Your fruit baskets and breadboards will be blessed.

6 Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed.

7 The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven!

8 The Lord will guarantee a blessing on everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

9 “If you obey the commands of the Lord your God and walk in his ways, the Lord will establish you as his holy people as he swore he would do. 10 Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the Lord, and they will stand in awe of you. 11 The Lord will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, blessing you with many children, numerous livestock, and abundant crops. 12 The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them. 13 If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom. 14 You must not turn away from any of the commands I am giving you today, nor follow after other gods and worship them.

James 1: 17 (AMPC)

Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].

2 Peter 1:3 (AMPC)

Everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness.

Psalms 34:8-10 (ERV)

Give the Lord a chance to show you how good He is. Great blessings belong to those who depend on Him! 9 The Lord’s holy people should fear and respect him. Those who respect Him will always have what they need. 10 Even strong lions get weak and hungry, but those who go to the Lord for help will have every good thing.

Psalms 84:11 (TPT)

For the Lord God is brighter than the brilliance of a sunrise! Wrapping himself around me like a shield,

He is so generous with his gifts of grace and glory. Those who walk along His paths with integrity

will never lack one thing they need, for He provides it all!

This is the God Almighty – EL-SHADDAI – the God who is more than enough that we serve! He is a good God! He is looking out for you, your family, your business, your job, your school, your relationships. He is for you not against you!

Action Points:

  1. Revere and respect God – (For there is no lack to those who revere/respect God – Psalms 34:9) – Invite Him into every aspect of your life. Allow Him to get involved in your life.
  2. Honor God’s Word – Get the Word of God in you. Faith comes by hearing and Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. – Romans 10:17
  3. Put your trust in Jesus and Make Him your confidence and your hope – Jeremiah 17:7
