October 5, 2025 A Brand New Person A New Birth Needed! 10.5.2025 Introduction There is a fresh move towards God worldwide over the past few weeks since Charlie Kirk’s assasination. For the next few weeks I want to address how Jesus transforms life. There are only spiritual solutions for the problems we face in the USA. It really is darkness verses light. An anti-God, Antichrist, anti-godly attitude is seeking to remove the ethics of Christianity from the world. God is moving the world towards what He showed His prophet Joel in Joel 2 – one more push for the salvation of people from their sin. We face unprecedented problems in America today! We face unprecedented problems in the nations of the world today! The political world is in upheaval! Our nation is challenged like never before with divisiveness, chaos, and division in every level of life. And before the church goes to heaven in what we call the Rapture, God wants us to focus on how Jesus can change lives! Jesus is the only answer to the crisis we face here in America! We face the same problems faced in Bible days. We are all spiritually dead until we allow Jesus to transform us. Romans 5:12 (NKJV) Death in Adam, Life in Christ Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— 3 kinds of death: Death in the Bible means separation from. 1. Spiritual death 2. Physical death 3. The Second death. Revelation 20:13-14 (NKJV) The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. What we are seeing now in America are the effects of spiritual death. This is what happens when Jesus is removed from life – beginning with children in school. We face the same problems faced in Bible days. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (Message Paraphrase) Don’t be naive. There are difficult times ahead. 2 As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, 3 dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, 4 treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. 5 They’ll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they’re animals. Stay clear of these people. Romans 1:28-32 (The Passion Translation) And because they thought it was worthless to embrace the true knowledge of God, God gave them over to a worthless mind-set, to break all rules of proper conduct. 29 Their sinful lives became full of every kind of evil, wicked schemes, greed, and cruelty. Their hearts overflowed with jealous cravings, and with conflict and strife, which drove them into hateful arguments and murder. They are deceitful liars full of hostility. They are gossips 30 who love to spread malicious slander. With inflated egos they hurl hateful insults at God, yet they are nothing more than arrogant boasters. They are rebels against their parents and totally immoral. 31 They are senseless, faithless, ruthless, heartless, and completely merciless. 32 Although they are fully aware of God’s laws and proper order, and knowing that those who do all of these things deserve to die, yet they still go headlong into darkness, encouraging others to do the same and applauding them when they do! Galatians 5:19-21 (The Passion Translation) The cravings of the self-life are obvious: Sexual immorality, lustful thoughts, pornography, 20 chasing after things instead of God, manipulating others, hatred of those who get in your way, senseless arguments, resentment when others are favored, temper tantrums, angry quarrels, only thinking of yourself, being in love with your own opinions, 21 being envious of the blessings of others, murder, uncontrolled addictions, wild parties, and all other similar behavior. Haven’t I already warned you that those who use their “freedom” for these things will not inherit the kingdom realm of God! The solution is the same as it was in Bible days. Human nature has not changed. Without Christ we are dead inside. Our spirits are full of spiritual death. A Jewish man came to Jesus at night looking for answers about life after death. What Jesus said to him is what needs to be said today. John 3:1-8 (NLT) There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. 2 After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.” 3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” 4 “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?” 5 Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. 6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. 7 So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.” Being born again is the rebirth of the human spirit from spiritual death to spiritual life. 1 John 3:14-15 (NKJV) We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. 15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 Peter 1:22-25 (NLT) You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. 23 For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. 24 As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. 25 But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you. For us to change, for our nation to change, we must become brand new inside! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (PHILLIPS) For if a man is in Christ he becomes a new person altogether—the past is finished and gone, everything has become fresh and new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (God’s Word) Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (Contemporary English Version) Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (Amplified Bible) Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. Let’s back up just a moment for context of how this New Birth mentioned by Jesus, Peter, and Paul affects us. Here is a quick primer on how God made you: spirit, soul, and body. This is simplistic, but accurate. This has guided my life for the last 49 years. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NLT) Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. I am a spirit being, I have a soul, and I live in a physical body. God is a spirit. Man is a spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NLT) Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. Spirit The part of your person that relates to God; your conscience, intuition, the inner knowing that you have; a gut sense; all of this comes from the spirit of man and is deeper than thought. Job 32:8 (NKJV) But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding. Proverbs 20:27 (NKJV) The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching all the inner depths of his heart. 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NKJV) Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 1 Peter 3:4 (NKJV) Rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. Soul The part of your person that relates to the world around you. The predominant voice of your soul is reason. The soul is made up of three parts – intellect, emotion, will. The combination of the spirit of man in a human body created the soul… Genesis 2:7 (NLT) Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. Our soul and spirit are very closely connected – only the Word of God can divide them. We must learn to differentiate between spirit and soul. Hebrews 4:12 (PHILLIPS) For the Word that God speaks is alive and active; it cuts more keenly than any two-edged sword: it strikes through to the place where soul and spirit meet, to the innermost intimacies of a man’s being: it exposes the very thoughts and motives of a man’s heart. Hebrews 4:12 (The Passion Translation) For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy, and it pierces more sharply than a two-edged sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts. Body The “earth suit” that you live in. The primary voice of the body is feelings. It is the seat of the 5 senses. 2 Corinthians 5:1 (NLT) For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. 2 Corinthians 5:2-8 (NLT) We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. 3 For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. When Adam was first created, his spirit flowed in harmony with God. His soul was in unison with his spirit, and was the servant of his spirit life. His body was in harmony with the earth from which it came. His entire being flowed in complete agreement and harmony, each part complementing the other. When Adam, the first man, sinned or disobeyed God, his spirit was separated from God. His soul usurped the place of authority over his spirit. His soul and body fell into rebellion against God and His will. He was thrown into confusion. The New Birth removes the desire to do wrong deep inside you – in your spirit. Ezekiel 36:26 (NLT) And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. Ezekiel 11:19-20 (NLT) And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart, 20 so they will obey my decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God. In the New Birth, internal motivations, desires, yearnings, and compulsions change! Our nation will change as people are born again. Our world will change as people are born again. Churches will change as people that attend them are born again! We undergo a tremendous change when we are born again! Liars begin to tell the truth when they are born again! Thieves stop stealing when they are born again! Immorality ceases when a person is born again. They no longer want the porn, and they no longer want to commit adultery or sleep with a person outside of marriage. A selfish person begins to think about others before themselves when they are born again! 1 John 3:9 (AMP) No one who is born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, because God’s seed [His principle of life, the essence of His righteous character] remains [permanently] in him [who is born again—who is reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose]; and he [who is born again] cannot habitually [live a life characterized by] sin, because he is born of God and longs to please Him. 1 John 3:10 (Amplified) By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God’s will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ). 1 John 5:18 (Amplified) We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice committing sin, but the One Who was begotten of God carefully watches over and protects him [Christ’s divine presence within him preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one does not lay hold (get a grip) on him or touch [him]. Illustration You can take a mule, feed him the finest food; groom him to perfection; cut his hooves and shoe him well; and then put him on a race track. When you fire the gun to go, he will still loaf off just like a mule. That is who he is inside! In the same way, you can take a quarter horse and neglect his food; never groom him; amd hardly feed him. Yet, when you put him on the race track and fire the gun to begin, he will run fast, because that is who he is inside! Living in a garage does not make you a car! Living in a forest does not make you an animal! And going to church does not make you a Christian! You must be born again! Paul shows exactly what a person must do to be born again! Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV) That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Action Points: Do you exhibit the characteristics found in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 on a regular basis? Do you have a desire within you to lie, to steal, to commit immorality, or to live without thinking of how what you do affects others? Have you been born again? Do you have an internal desire to do what is right?
