(part 2) 12.12.2021 Review What we do with Jesus personally and as a nation will determine our future. John 3:16-17 (NKJV) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Jesus did not come to condemn us. He came to help us! The only people Jesus condemned in the Bible were religious hypocrites. Jesus loved people and wanted them to be free from their sin and help them go to heaven. God’s deep love for you and me drove His son to become Incarnate in a human body. God’s original plan was for us to live in human bodies for eternity that would never die, and for us to live on a planet that was a mirror of life in heaven. Our sin put a monkey wrench into God’s plan! The virgin birth was God’s way of bringing His original plan for us back into focus. Questions: Can I be a Christian without belief in the Virgin Birth? Why did God need to incarnate Himself into the body of a human? Can I go to heaven without a Virgin Birth? The Bible reveals that we are a depraved and fallen race and cannot go to heaven without our sin (our faults) being judged and cleansed. We all have broken God’s laws! Notice the scriptures: Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it? Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. Romans 3:10-19 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; (11) There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. (12) They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.” (13) “Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”;”The poison of asps is under their lips”; (14) “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” (15) “Their feet are swift to shed blood; (16) Destruction and misery are in their ways; (17) And the way of peace they have not known.” (18) “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”(19) Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. James 2:8-11 – NLT Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (9) But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law. (10) For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws. (11) For the same God who said, “You must not commit adultery,” also said, “You must not murder.” So if you murder someone but do not commit adultery, you have still broken the law. God’s Love for us is based on His Justice. Psalms 89:14 (NKJV) Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face. In America, you hear much about God loving us, but very little about our sinfulness. Most people in America now believe that God loves them too much to allow them to go to a place called hell, where a fire will be burning them for eternity. Many American believe that we are basically good people, and just need an education and some training to get the flame of goodness ignited that is already inside of us. He can’t just forgive us because He loves us. That would be unfair to Satan, His enemy. God’s love for us must also satisfy His Justice. Every sin must be accounted for and the penalty for it paid. God’s love and His justice must work together to satisfy His Justice towards our sin. If you think you go to heaven simply because God loved you, you are so wrong. If that is what you believe, then if you do nothing but live in the light of God’s love, you will go to hell when you die! We are sinners and cannot go to heaven without our sins being dealt with. Impurity cannot enter the gates of heaven. Sin makes us impure, so we cannot enter heaven without our sin being judicially dealt a with. Here’s why the Incarnation is God’s greatest gift to us… An equal to us must pay our sin debt. A man got us into sin…a man must get us out! Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. Romans 5:17 (NLT) For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. No person born of two human parents qualifies to conquer the sin, Satan, and Curse problems we face. The person who pays our sin debt must meet 10 criteria: 1. Be born in fellowship with God. 2. Be free from Satan’s rule. 3. Be without sin Himself. 4. Have only one human parent. 5. Be Immortal – not subject to death. 6. Be able to legally pay for our sin. 7. Conquer death and give us an ability to defeat our enemy. 8. Make immortality and a resurrection body available to us. 9. Remove the curse from the earth. 10. Completely restore man to his pre-fall condition. Because Jesus Christ had only one human parent, then He was God living in a human body! That means that He was sinless; free from Satan’s rule; immortal – not subject to death; was legally without sin as a human and able to pay or sin penalty for us; was able to conquer our enemy and defeat death; was able to give us immortality and make a resurrection body available to us; was able to remove the curse from the earth; and was able to completely restore mankind to its pre-fall condition! The Virgin Birth means that your personal sin penalty has been paid. If you accept God’s free gift of your sin being cleansed, you can go to heaven. If not – your personal default is hell. The Virgin Birth was foretold in the Old Testament Genesis 3:15 -NLT And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” Isaiah 7:14 – NKJV Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Isaiah 9:6 -NKJV For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 53:2 -NLT My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him. Micah 5:2 -NKJV “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.” The Virgin Birth is also revealed in the New Testament: John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory. Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, (5) to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Hebrews 2:14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil. Action Points: 1. Do you believe that the Bible is relevant for today? 2. Do you believe in the Virgin Birth of Jesus? 3. Do you believe that faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven? 4. Have you repented of your sin and asked Jesus Christ to rule your life through His Word?
