(part 12) Healing Hindrances – Unforgiveness, Disobedience 8.1.2021 Review Pursue Jesus for forgiveness and healing! Both are available. Psalms 103:1-3 (NKJV) Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases. Since the last part of April, I have spent 6 Sundays showing that healing is part of our redemption in Christ. We have taken 3 lessons and talked about the importance of faith and the ingredient of believing that you receive. There will never be a time you don’t need faith for healing either for yourself… If you wait to get faith when you need it, you will be at a disadvantage. God wants us to walk in divine health. It is made available by faith in the sacrifice of Jesus at Calvary. The faith you have to receive forgiveness is the same faith that will heal you from sickness and disease. This past year, with so much talk about sickness everywhere, we need to counteract that with the truth of God’s word about our health! Part 1. Deal with fear. Part 2. To what information sources do you give the most attention? Change the atmosphere of your life. Part 3. 7 reasons you can know that healing is the will of God for you! Part 4. The Healing Covenant Part 5. God’s seven covenant names. Part 6. Healing in the Atonement of Christ Part 7. Seven points on how to receive healing by faith Part 8. Believe You receive Part 9. Faith, words, and actions worked together – David/Goliath, 12 Spies With part 10, I began to address hindrances to healing. Just as there are sometimes roadblocks that keep you from your destination, so there are roadblocks that can hinder us from receiving God’s best with healing and health… 4 major categories 1. Negative emotions 2. Misuse of the body 3. Unforgiveness 4. Disobedience Part 10 – Healing Hindrances: negative emotions On June 27th, we looked at negative emotions and how we must deal with hurtful relationships and forgive. Proverbs 14:30 (AMP) A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones. Cleansing Stream… Last week, we covered #2. Misuse of the body Sometimes we create the physical problems we have. Misuse of the body includes: Diet, Rest, Overwork, and Exercise. Today: 3. Unforgiveness Unforgiveness will keep your faith from working. Many times, I have prayed for people and felt a spiritual blockage of some kind with respect to healing. As I asked them, they admitted that they had not forgiven a person. Mark 11:25 (AMP) And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop. Proverbs 14:30 (NLT) A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones. Proverbs 14:30 (AMP) A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones. When you forgive someone: We forgive others the way God forgives us: 1. He will not bring forgiven things up to you again. 2. He will not tell others. 3. He forgets you did it. Three steps to forgiving: 1. By faith, tell God that you forgive them for whatever it is, and that you no longer hold them accountable for what they did. 2. When it comes to mind, choose not to think about what they did. Pray for the person instead of thinking about what they did. (Ephesians 1:17-23; Ephesians 3:14-20; Colossians 1:9-12). 3. Replace negative thoughts about the person with prayer for them. Years ago, I ministered to someone, and they, being an artist, drew me a train on a track! Train on a train track…Engine, cars, caboose: The train engine is the initial act of forgiving. The boxcars are dealing daily with thoughts that come up about the person. Pray for the person instead of thinking about what they did. (Ephesians 1:17-23; Ephesians 3:14-20; Colossians 1:9-12). The caboose of the train contains feelings that finally calm down and feel forgiveness towards the person. Forgive by faith, even if there is no feeling to it. Thoughts and feelings go hand in hand. You’re not going to have good feelings towards someone as long as you have negative thoughts about them. Some find it easier to forgive than others. Some families let go of things easily, and others tend to hold on too long! 1994 – trees in my yard next to my neighbor’s house. He CUT MY TREES DOWN. 4. Disobedience James 4:17 (NKJV) Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. James 4:17 (NLT) Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. Example – Kenneth Hagin – Lady called to be a missionary. Example – Man in Mullins Isaiah 1:19-20 (NKJV) If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; 20 But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. 1 Corinthians 5:3-5 (NKJV) For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed. 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Sin – in all its varied forms – opens the door to the adversary to kill, steal, and destroy. Self-will – Doing what you want to do with your life, in the light of knowing that God wants something else, is sin. Some people think – “Well, if I don’t get too close to God, I’m saved but not close – then God won’t speak to me about what He wants out of my life.” My friend, that is dangerous thinking; you will stand before Jeswus and give an account for what you should have been. And not being in the best that God has for you can hinder Him blessing you and helping you and healing you! 1 Corinthians 11:27-32 (NKJV) Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. Some people die early, not because it’s God’s best, but because they have not heeded the warnings from the Hol Spirit to make changes in life and lifestyle. KH – praying for a man – for Him not to die – God told him – there will not be a better time for him to go – his life is finally in order- finances, family, himself with me – he had been away from God and just would not live right – and had finally come back… Develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit. A current relationship with the Holy Spirit is an indispensable part of walking in divine health. Divine healing is from the inside out, not the outside in… Romans 8:11 (NLT) The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within yo Romans 8:11 (JB Phillips) Nevertheless once the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives within you he will, by that same Spirit, bring to your whole being new strength and vitality. Romans 8:11 (MSG) It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s! John 16:13 (NLT) When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. John 16:13 (AMPC) But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future]. The Holy SPirit LOVES the Word! When you take time to meditate the Word, He will quicken your body!! Ex: Tulsa jogging – meditating while i was jogging…Felt like Elijah as he outran Jezebel’s chariot! Pray in the Spirit every day – there is a quickening. A.B. Simpson Quote: The Christ of the Bible Series, A.B. Simpson – Volume 6, page 359. But let it not be forgotten that divine healing, real and blessed, as it is not a matter of mere rite or ceremony or even intellectual faith, but the work of the Holy Spirit and connected with the divine anointing. It is nothing less than a life of Christ in our body, the very quickening of the divine spirit in our mortal frame. We cannot come to Christ as they did in the days of his flesh as a visible and material presence. We can only approach him through the Holy Spirit and know Him as the Spirit reveals Him. Therefore a spiritual preparation is indispensable to receiving him as our healer. There is a double anointing. First the heart becomes the temple of the Holy Spirit, and then it becomes also true: “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). Beloved, have we received the physical anointing of the divine Spirit? This will not only bring us healing from disease, but a higher type of physical life even in health. It unites us with the risen Lord and lifts every function and force into blessed fellowship with His risen life and power. p. 359-360 …The third person of the Godhead who dwelt in the Lord Jesus during His earthly ministry, comes to dwell in us when we yield ourselves fully to His possession and control. He brings to the heart the revelation and realization of our union with the Lord Jesus. He quickens us with His life, comforts us with His love, and illumines us with the vision of His person and the light of His truth. He makes the Word of God a living reality to our spiritual consciousness. He becomes to us the Spirit of peace, joy, and rest. He teaches us to pray and inspires our communion with God. He gives us messages and clothes them with power. He becomes to us the Spirit of purity and holiness. He fills the heart with love and the life with sweetness and beneficence. Even our very body He quickens with divine strength, lifts us above the power of disease, and makes us partakers of the risen life of our glorified Lord. He is our Guide and guards us from seducing spirits and from dangers seen and unseen, and the promise becomes true, “As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you.” (1 John 2:27) Action Points: Do you quickly forgive those who challenge you?
