A Shaking and an Awakening (part 6)

Let the Holy Spirit help you!

2.5.2023

Review

This is lesson 6 in a series on dealing with life during this transition time just prior to the coming of Jesus.

January 1 – The world seems to be in preparation for Jesus’ return!

God is seeking to prepare us for the days ahead.

End times is not happening to me – I am happening to the end times! – Mario Marillo – Vessels of Fire and Glory.

January 8 – His covenant with us will provide for us and give us direction as we navigate the waters of change.

January 15 and 22 – The last two weeks I have addressed the greatest challenge we face today and into our future – deception and delusion.

January 15 – Deception is truth mixed with a good bit of false information.

January 22 – Delusion is knowing what is right but being coerced to do the opposite.

January 29 – Repentance opens the door for God to do something fresh in your life!

Repentance:

Renounce and Reverse.

Daily Cleansing

Obey the Holy Spirit moment by moment

Today – Let the Holy Spirit help you!

In a strange way today, we seem surrounded by lies, distortions, deceptions, and twisted truths that only present a partial picture of whatever we are dealing with.

We have an internal antidote for today. He is the Spirit of Truth.

We have the same problems others have, but we have different answers…

Exodus 33:16 (NLT)

For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?

There is such a distinction between how a believer deals with stress and how a person who doesn’t know Jesus deals with it.

Pain looks for pleasure. To deal with stress, people turn to all kinds of things:

Overeating, alcohol, drugs, porn, sex, mobile phone.

When we do this, it hardens us.

Hebrews 3:12-13 (NKJV)

Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

James 4:4 (PHILLIPS)

You are like unfaithful wives, flirting with the glamor of this world, and never realizing that to be the world’s lover means becoming the enemy of God! Anyone who deliberately chooses to love the world is thereby making himself God’s enemy. Do you think what the scriptures have to say about this is a mere formality? Or do you imagine that this spirit of passionate jealousy is the Spirit he has caused to live in us?

He wants us to bring the pain of living into His Presence!

Psalms 16:11 (NKJV)

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

This is a day to get rid of spiritual hardness and callousness and learn to hear the Holy Spirit as He guides us.

To do that, get acquainted with the word.

John 14:26 (NKJV)

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

John 14:26 (NLT)

But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

We have been given a personal Coach.

In an age of great change, challenge, and danger, God has given us a personal coach to help us navigate through these troubled times.

He will show you what you need to do as things change in our nation and world.

John 14:15-18 (ESV)

If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

John 14:15-18 (TPT)

Loving me empowers you to obey my commands. 16–17 And I will ask the Father and he will give you another Savior, the Holy Spirit of Truth, who will be to you a friend just like me—and he will never leave you. The world won’t receive him because they can’t see him or know him. But you will know him intimately, because he will make his home in you and will live inside you. 18 “I promise that I will never leave you helpless or abandon you as orphans—I will come back to you!

The Helper – The Parakletos

The Greek Word for Helper is Parakletos.

Helper (Olive Tree Enhanced Strong’s Dictionary)

g3875. paraklētos; an intercessor, consoler: — advocate, comforter.

AV (5) – comforter 4, advocate 1; summoned, called to one’s side, esp. called to one’s aid, one who pleads another’s cause before a judge, a pleader, counsel for defense, legal assistant, an advocate, one who pleads another’s cause with one, an intercessor of Christ in his exaltation at God’s right hand, pleading with God the Father for the pardon of our sins in the widest sense, a helper, succourer, aider, assistant – of the Holy Spirit destined to take the place of Christ with the apostles (after his ascension to the Father), to lead them to a deeper knowledge of the gospel truth, and give them divine strength needed to enable them to undergo trials and persecutions on behalf of the divine kingdom.

One called along to aid or to help.

Amplified:

Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby.

The Latin word for helper means one who comes with strength.

God never planned that we navigate life alone.

In 2016 I hired a coach to help me through changes I needed to make as a leader…he stuck with me and helped me make some needed changes as senior pastor here.

He held my feet to the fire and did not allow me to go back to my old habits.

We likewise have a coach that has taken up residence on the inside that can help us navigate through everyday challenges we face today and in our future.

The Holy Spirit is to us what Jesus was to the disciples.

When He told them that He would send another comforter, it literally reads in the Greek, another comforter of the same kind. Everything Jesus was to them, this coming person would be to them.

Jesus wanted the disciples to know that He was not leaving them as orphans. He told them that He would send someone to take His place in their lives. That someone would be everything that He was to them.

The Holy Spirit is to us everything that Jesus was to the disciples.

We actually have it better than they did!

John 16:7 (NKJV)

Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

Beginning with John 12, Jesus is preparing His disciples for His departure to heaven. He had been with them for 3 ½ years. They trusted Him for everything.

If they didn’t understand a scripture, they would go to Him and He would explain it to them.

Once they needed money to pay taxes. Jesus told Peter to go fishing, and the first fish he caught would have the tax money in its mouth!

When they had trouble ministering healing to an epileptic boy, Jesus set him free.

When they needed to feed a large crowd, Jesus was there to multiply a little boy’s lunch and feed over five thousand with it.

Jesus was everything they needed.

Now, with the Holy Spirit living in us, we have 24/7 access to what the disciples had with Jesus!

The Holy Spirit will take the WORD and direct your life!

Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Proverbs 3:1-6 (NKJV)

My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; 2 For length of days and long life and peace they will add to you. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, 4 And so find favor and high esteem

In the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 16:3 (AMPC)

Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.

Don’t be like a horse or a donkey – stubborn and unresponsive to God! The circumstances will force you to change!

Psalms 32:8-10 (NKJV)

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. 9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you. 10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;

but he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.

Personal Anecdotes:

The Holy Spirit can become the best friend you have ever had…

Right now, He is saying..clean up! REPENT! Get ready for God’s power…and get into the WORD!

Action Points:

1. How well acquainted are you with your personal coach?

2. Are you giving the Holy Spirit room to speak to you by becoming familiar with the Word?

3. Are you expecting the Holy Spirit to speak to you about your life and your future decisions?
